(5) Bremen City

The city of Bremen!
Formed in AD800

in the past Bremen was reach trades city, it linked Germany and the rest of the word through its port.

the symbol for the city is a key because it was the key the world.

Mr Roland stands in the center of the town center.
He is the symbol of freedom because he freed the city form the Chaotic rule.

this is the city's idol, every one has to worship it...

Haha just joking, it is a story about how 4 animals chased away robbers from their master’s house by staking them selves. And it all happened in Bremen.
(I suspect the chicken became dinner in the end)

going shopping

Tram stop.
the tram comes every 5min and they go to almost every part of the city It’s quite idiot prove.

i take the no.4 to the town center and the no.6 from the town center to the uni.

the trams really go every where even on "walk ways"

the city has lots of nice rivers and parks.
because the weather is really cooling (~23deg) it's really a joy to just hang out under the sun or to go for a jog.

Lower temperature also mean less pesky bags

nothing to say here..

the city's cathedral it's really old and really nice.
i'll snap some photos from the top some other time.

a picture of it at night

a closer look...

the gospel is depicted on the door.
the person on the right is moses and on the left king David

on the inside of the cathedral

the other side of the inside.

the town is a mixture of the old and the new

and in the evening. shops here close at 7 and they all do not open on sunday (other then the spoil market Chinese :)

biggest fountain in the world...

this is one of the very old buildings from log ago that was no flatten during the war.

closer look...
this building has 2 styles.
the first was the Christian gothic, that's why it has red and black bricks as the background
the second is the venice style art i don't know why but some guy many years ago thought the gothic was boring so he added some other stuff.

the trades house
on top of the door it rights
“if you take risk on the inside you win$$$”
“if you take risk on the outside you win$$$”

some fest at the town center. they have one almost every day (will upload pictures some other time.)

old buildings

old tower

more nice old buildings

more nice old buildings

Town square.
When they first build the town square, they determined its size by the number of citizens the city had. So I guess everyone could stand in the square if need be.

other side of the square

horses

this place is called the "die Schnur" aka the string this was because the rood was super small and the houses very crammed. the city of bremen in the past was very packed because every one who wanted to be a citizen had to live within the walls.

the ppl in the pic are my tour group aka fellow students :D

when they first build this rood, they forgot to put in the sewerage so they had to raise the rood by about 1+m to put in the sewage drains.
So every house on this Schnur has a free basement if you know what i mean

boat..

ah yessss
